A recent fire in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, destroyed the warehouses of a logistics company and a furniture company in an industrial park, while a second fire engulfed a number of restaurants and garages in the downtown area of the city.

Fire consumed the warehouses of the Japanese-invested Nippon Express Vietnam Company and the local Woodsland Company, both of which are located in the Quang Minh Industrial Park in Me Linh District. Flammable materials such as furniture and paint in the warehouses are believed to have caused or fuelled the blaze, which engulfed an area of around 12,000 square meters. 17 fire engines and over 200 firefighters fought the blaze.

No casualties were reported, but damage is expected to be more than US$47,100. Further investigations to ascertain the exact cause of fire are underway.

On the same night, another fire also broke out on Duong Dinh Nghe Street, close to Keangnam, Hanoi’s tallest building, setting a number of restaurants and garages ablaze. The fire is believed to have started in a garage and quickly spread to others and restaurants on the street. The cause of fire has yet to be ascertained.
