In excess of 50 MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) have promised to put fire safety first following recent elections.
The pledge comes in light of a call issued by the campaign called FireSafetyFirst, which was launched by Fire Safe Europe; an initiative centred on improving the fire safety protection in buildings.
The campaign was aimed at encouraging Members and candidate Members of the European Parliament to collaborate with firefighters on the front-line and those in the building industry, to enhance fire safety standards and practices in different premises. These include homes, shops, hospitals and schools.
