Fire Safety Advisor Runs the Country
Jerome Timbrell, Director of C2 Safety based in Somerset will be running the Ultra Running Ltd – 2XU JOGLE race, starting on 10th April and finishing on 27th April.
He will be running 860 miles from John O’ Groats to Lands End over 17 days completing on average 50 miles a day.
Back in 1999, Jerome was taken hostage at gun point in an armed robbery in Belgium. Following this he suffered post-traumatic stress and his weight ballooned to 23 stone. All attempts to lose the weight failed and he had a gastric bypass in 2007 and subsequently lost around 12 stone.
The race is going to be difficult for anyone, but especially difficult for Jerome as he needs to take in 10,000 calories a day, but because he has a smaller stomach and can’t eat extremely fatty or sugary foods as he will get stomach cramp and find it difficult to consume this many calories. This means that he is going to be calorie deficient and will have to eat as often as possible.
Jerome is raising money for The Fire Fighter Charity, Somerset Community Foundation and St Margaret’s Hospice.
MDM Publishing Ltd, publishers of International Fire Fighter (www.iffmag.com), International Fire Protection (www.ifpmag.com) and Asia Pacific Fire (www.apfmag.com) magazines are proud to support Jerome and assist him to raise awareness of the Ultra Running Ltd – 2XU JOGLE and to encourage people to sponsor his efforts.
